Court refuses to set aside order sacking Ikpeazu as Abia governor

Abuja - A Federal High Court in Abuja has declared that it would not set aside its previous judgement sacking Okezie Ikpeazu as the governor of Abia state over tax offences, reports Daily Trust Justice Okon Abang had on June 27 declared Ikpeazu unfit to occupy the Abia state governor’s office because he enrolled in the 2015 election which he won with a fake tax clearance according to News 24 The case had been filed by Uche Ogah, the first runner-up to Ikpeazu in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election before the gubernatorial election. Justice Abang had ruled in favor of Ogah, ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately install him as the governor of the state. Also read: PDP appeals Ikpeazu’s removal as Abia governor Wole Olanipekun (SAN) had filed an application requesting the court to set aside its previous order on behalf of Okezie. On Monday however, Justice Okon Abang, said the first order of the court will not be vacated as requested by the lawyer but that he would hear other applications on the matter on Thursday.
